Finding and filling the need.
Not only are we nerdy engineers here at Ion, but we're also serious motor heads... We love our cars and bikes! We have almost 40 years of building, restoring and even racing all kinds of cars and bikes. Like you, we have come across situations were parts are no longer available from the original manufacturer or through the aftermarket. One such example that we keep seeing the need for are engine/motor mounts. Multiple times, we were unable to source replacement mounts for our street and race cars, so we developed a solution.
The solution.
When an engine/motor mount fails, it's usually through deterioration of the rubber. The metal housing, center pin and hardware are generally fine. So why not just replace the rubber? Is that even possible? You bet it is, and that's what we do. Customers send us their failed mounts, and we restore them to good as new with the rubber hardness (Durometer) they request. We offer multiple rubber hardness levels from factory to race level. We also offer custom colors for the replacement rubber.
How does it work?
Drop us a line at Eljefe@ionengineering.us Tell us what you've got, what you'd like to do and include a couple of pictures. We'll reply with a quote, and if it's something you'd like to do, box the mounts up and send them to us. Once they arrive, we will inspect them and let you know how we are going to proceed. It usually takes about two weeks to restore them and get them back in the mail to you. Our price includes return shipping with insurance and tracking.
